October at Lykia World Golf
We stayed at Lykia World Golf from 4 to 14 October with temperatures between 26 and 30°C, and the hotel was almost full. Guests came mainly from Russia, Turkey and Germany, but also from Scandinavia, Poland, Slovakia. There were plenty of families with children, couples aged 45+, and golfers, as the golf course opened during our stay.
The location is one of the main reasons we keep coming back. The hotel stands on its own, in an area separated by two rivers, away from other hotels and busy streets. We like the feeling of space and especially the 4 km walk along the beach. This time, we also enjoyed swimming in the sea more than on our last visit in May, it was calm and inviting. Even with the hotel so busy, we never had trouble finding sunbeds and umbrellas, either on the beach or around the pools. The gardens were full of flowers and well kept, and the pools were clean. The beach is sandy, although waves sometimes bring pebbles to the shore.
We found the staff friendly and helpful, particularly at reception and guest relations. Many spoke English, which made it easy to ask questions and sort things out.
Food is always a matter of personal taste, but we felt there was plenty of choice - fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit, hot and cold appetisers, grilled meat, Turkish specialities and the usual selection of cakes and desserts. The bars served branded alcoholic drinks. The snack restaurant was open from 12:00 to 18:00, the pastry from 15:00 to 18:00, and a light buffet was available overnight. Some dishes appealed to us more than others, as you would expect in a large buffet, but we never felt short of options.
Our room was spacious and in good condition, and we slept comfortably on the mattress. It was cleaned daily, with regular changes of bed linen and towels. The minibar was stocked with bottled water, canned soft drinks, tea bags and coffee.
There was plenty to do for guests who wanted activities and entertainment. The animation team organised events for children and adults, including a large inflatable castle over the pool twice a week, aqua-gym with a spin bike or trampoline, and weekly games inspired by survival shows. The mini club was open in the evenings, too. There was entertainment every evening, sometimes with a live music concert at another venue at the same time, followed by a disco. We particularly appreciated that things quietened down after midnight. Golf and tennis lessons were also available.
While reconstruction is still under way, there is only one indoor pool, and on rainy days it becomes crowded and noisy, with children playing in the water. That makes it difficult to enjoy a peaceful swim or a relaxing visit to the spa. Compared with the rest of the facilities, this area feels unfinished and could use more attention.
We keep returning for the location, the space and the relaxed atmosphere. October gave us a different experience of a hotel we already know well, and we enjoyed our stay overall.
