Здание гостиницы было заложено в 1890 году рыбаком-мореплавателем Куртом, как гостиница с таверной для проживания рыбаков и флотоводцев. Во времена нацистского режима в этом здании располагался госпиталь для офицеров «кригсмарине» (флота), а в советские времена – родильный дом, в котором родилось много известных в последующем людей.
