Aeriko Villa

Villa Aeriko is a lovely stone built 4bedroom, 3 bathroom villa that sleeps up to 8 persons. It is conveniently located in western Crete on the south side of the Akrotiri Peninsula close to the local village of Pithari and has wonderful views of the White Mountains to the south.

With its rugged coastline the Akrotiri peninsula lies north east of the regions capital city of Chania. It attracts many new visitors every year as well as many who return year after year to experience the best of Cretan hospitality and to enjoy the surrounding nature. There are several lovely sandy beaches, interesting caves, churches and monasteries that date back centuries, and also historical monuments.

The sandy beach at Kalathas is only 6km from the villa and at 10km youll find Tersanas, a small seaside village with a lovely sheltered sandy beach and a couple of tavernas. A little further away at 15km is the village of Stavros which enjoys several local amenities including a few tavernas, cafe/bars and a mini-market. Stavros has an excellent sheltered sandy beach and is perfect for children and is well known for its association with the film Zorbas the Greek where some scenes were filmed at the beach. The beaches of Loutraki and Marathi are within 8km to the east of the peninsula. The village of Kounoupidiana is just 3km away where you will find supermarkets, shops, restaurants, a bank, petrol station, bakery, and a chemist.

The villa is only 8km from the centre of Chania, a bustling town with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The Venetian harbour is a sight to behold with little fishing boats bobbing up and down on the water in the eastern side, while the waterfront on the western side has an abundance of cafes and restaurants ranging from traditional to chic. Narrow, picturesque streets with a splendid array of shops, boutiques, small cafes and tavernas lead off behind the waterfront. Theotokopoulou St. is one not to be missed with its characteristic Venetian buildings and ornate balconies, and a visit to Chania should be near the top of any list of things to see and do whilst in the area.

The location makes an excellent starting point for exploring beautiful western Crete whether you are interested in sightseeing, archaeology, walking, water sports, horse riding or simply relaxing by the pool or some of the wonderful beaches in the area.

The spacious two storey villa measures 200m² and sits alone on a plot of 3600m² in verdant surroundings of olive and carob trees as well as wild and subtropical vegetation and a vine. The poolside has spectacular views towards the White Mountains and Souda Bay. The outside features stonework and the interior is contemporary, minimalist, and bright and airy. Artwork, some pieces of which are by famous Greek painters, plays a major role in the décor. Other attractive decorative features are the use of patterned tiles and unusual wood panelling.

The ground floor houses a spacious kitchen/dining/living area, a bedroom and a bathroom. The kitchen has 4 plate ceramic hob and oven, a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, juicer, a table & six chairs, and an attractive dresser and cupboard as well as attractive tiles and flooring. The kitchen leads to the dining hall with a large table and chairs to seat 8 persons. From here a stone arch leads in to the living area which features a fireplace and is attractively furnished with a large corner sofa and a comfortable arm chair in vibrant colours, a 42inch TV, a CD/DVD player/music system and a couple of magazine/coffee stools. Doors open on to a patio that is furnished with a table and chairs.

The ground floor bathroom has a shower, and the bedroom which faces the White Mountains has a double bed, wardrobe, table and chair, and a bedside cabinet. Doors open overlooking the lawn at the side of the house from where the White Mountains can be seen.

An attractive wooden staircase leads to the upper floor which houses three bedrooms, each with a double bed and views of Souda Bay/the White Mountains. Two of these rooms share a furnished terrace and the other has both a furnished balcony and terrace. Two bathrooms are on this floor, one with a bath and a washing machine, the other with a shower. A cot can fit in either of two of these bedrooms.

Outdoors there is natural vegetation within the plot as well as a lawn of 300m². Also featured is a pool (40m²/depth 1.6m) with ladder access and a childrens section (11m²/depth 65-70cm), a tiled sun terrace furnished with sun loungers and umbrellas, an outdoor chessboard, and also a built-in BBQ.
